Hot Toys AVP Machiko

This figure is getting on for about a year old; but still very fresh in the memory.
So a brief non-all-encapsulating look back at Hot Toys' very first Hot Angel...

In full gear with all the trimmings, in which state...it did not stay long - far too cumbersome and far too much jingle-jangle every time you pick it up.

To fishnet, or not to fishnet...

Not to fishnet...

Maybe just one...

The elbows caused much debating and the talking and the feudin'. Hot Toys are releasing the Biohazard Sheva Alomar with rubber covered elbow joints, which is causing much debating and the talking and the feudin'...

Why Machiko would use an MP5 is anyone's guess: Found out her plasma caster was a hair dryer? Or maybe just getting lazy about having to use the combi stick in order to get food?

Hey Machiko, shoulda gone McDonalds, buy taro pie la...2338 2338.

Token outdoor shot, without 1:6 scale grass... or snow for that matter.

An excellent figure by any stretch of the imagination...

Countdown 2008: Power Girl

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

DC Direct Power Girl: As of 2009, still yet to find a convincing front as to why this JSA frontlady's front is so unmissable.

Kinda debases this saucy, sassy, brazen, fundament-smiting gentlewoman a snatch.
Modelling infinite crisis-y togs, curiously missing the characteristic seam down the middle of the spandex which is dissimilar to the prototype. The boots are well done compared to some of the other 13" ladies.

2008 Countdown: Catwoman

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

DC Direct Catwoman: The first female figure of DC's 13" Line. The best one, I think: Character specific hands, leather lace up boots, goggles, whip, swag bag, cat, diamond, carabiner...list goes on. Still needs a Catillac though.

2008 Countdown: Batgirl

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

DC Direct Batgirl: Solid. All things considered, a solid edition to the 13" DC line-up. Nice costume and sturdy underlying body. Yellow vinyl and light grey costuming - this glamour girl'll sass-talk your behind all the way to jail and then take off in the middle of the day on her bat-cycle. Cool.

2008 Countdown: Jinx Johnson

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

Halle Berry as Jinx Johnson: Negating all Sideshow's idiosyncrasies, this figure stands out for me for the costume design, Halle, 007, and the quality fabric used. That silver Beretta is pure fashion accessory.

2008 Countdown: Black Suited Spider-man

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

Medicom Black Suited Spider-man: What a great figure. The suit is stretchy and hard wearing. Medicom's body, when it works so well on a design such as this, is my personal favourite.
Highly worth checking out is Shaun's Evaluation of the Medicom body (among others).

2008 Countdown: Sue Storm

2008 Countdown - ie., Top 10 Figures of '08.
Sure, it's '09, but what am I, a calender?

Sue Storm: Despite Toy Biz's attempts to marginalize anatomy, they did manage a fine Alba likeness (likely Real Scan) inspite of the mass market paint application, and some welcome, if not entirely perfuntory articulation.

13" Catwoman Endorses - Mr. Sparkle Dish Soap*

"Get out of my way all of you! This is no place for loafers! Join me or die! Can you do any less?"

*Catwoman does not actually endorse product.

October seems to be turning into Catober, perhaps fittingly considering the season.
Plus there's plenty of The Simpsons reference about too. I wonder what the next Halloween Special will be like.

DC Direct - 13" Catwoman - Deluxe Collector Figure

During the Silver Age, Catwoman, like most Batman villains, used a variety of themed weapons, vehicles, and equipment, such as a custom cat-themed car called the "Cat-illac".

I want a "Cat-illac"

Tonight, Selina decided she'd have a crack at stealing the world's largest cubic zirconia from the Springfield Museum...

Ooooh... Zirconia Ztolen...

Catwoman's favored weapon is a whip. She wields both a standard bullwhip and the cat-o-nine-tails with expert proficiency.

In addition, Catwoman has been shown to have various items to restrain her victims, such as a set of plastic ties for binding hands and feet, and a roll of duct tape used to gag her targets.

"A master thief possessed of unsurpassed stealth and cunning, Gotham City's finest cat-burglar."

DC Direct - 13" Power Girl - Deluxe Collector Figure

Possessing superhuman strength and the ability to fly, she is a member of the Justice Society of America and the team's first chairwoman. Power Girl sports a bob of blond hair, wears a distinctive white, red, and blue costume, and has an aggressive fighting style.

Power Girl explains her cleavage-window to Superman, revealing that "the first time I made this costume, I wanted to have a symbol, like you. I just… I couldn’t think of anything. I thought eventually, I’d figure it out. And close the hole. But I haven’t."

Er...ahem.

"This costume shows what I am: female, healthy, and strong. If men want to degrade themselves by staring and drooling and tripping over themselves, that's their problem, I'm not going to apologize for it."

Touche.
